Archives For zoey b

I’m guest posting today over at Wild & Precious. Blair has been one of my favorite bloggers for a long time, and then I had the awesome opportunity to share a bed with her last year at The Influence Conference (I know, lucky me!!!). I was blown away by how amazingly amazing she really is in real life. I adore everything about her, and I’m so thankful to call her a friend.

Head over to her blog today to hear my heart!

Hope you’re having a fabulous day, I’ll leave you with this short video of Zoey showing off her dance moves. This kid kills me.

My sweet girls,

Sometimes I wish I could see the world through your eyes.

Jess, those hazel eyes that light up when Daddy walks in a room and the way you react when you try something new. Zo, those baby blues that squeal with delight over a kitty or a baby.

But mostly, your innocence.
You don’t understand true heartbreak.

I want to see the world through a filter of joy and newness. The way you see it.

The way you squeal with delight over a cookie. How a slide is a giant adventure and must seem SO big to you.

I pray everyday that you will not live in fear of the unknown. Life can be scary and things happen that we don’t understand. But our Jesus is bigger than all of it. He hold us in His arms and nothing can separate us from Him! I wish I could protect you from all the evil of this world, and shield those tiny eyes and hearts from hurt, but unfortunately that’s part of this world. I pray that you cling to Jesus and trust in Him. There’s no need to fear things in life when you have Him.

Don’t ever forget that Daddy’s arms are the safest place in the world. He protects us and always will. Follow Daddy and allow him to guide you, and look to Mommy as you grow. Watch how Mommy respects and honors Daddy and how we are a team. Know that our heavenly Daddy is our first love, and that’s the only way we love each other as unconditionally as we do. We hope we can set the greatest example we know how for you.

Even though I want you to learn and grow, sometimes I wish I could keep you little forever.

Bottle up your energy and love for life.

Keep looking at life through those precious eyes, and keep showing me how to see the world the way you do. You teach me every day of the true importance in my life. You make every moment worth it. The two of you have taught me more in less than 3 years about life than I have learned in the 26 years before I knew you.

Thank you for that.
Thank you for the joy.
For the giggles and stolen kisses.
For the innocence.
For each and every moment.

Thank you for showing me life through your eyes.

I love you thiiiiiiiiiiis much (and so much more),
Mama

How in the world did this happen?? FOURTEEN MONTHS!!!!! I’ve been so terrible about doing monthly updates with Zo, but couldn’t miss this month. We are having an absolute blast! It had gotten really difficult with her, because she just wanted to be held constantly. Making pregnant mommy VERY tired! She had a tough few months of transitioning to a toddler, but we made it through and she’s so happy now! Walking everywhere, starting to communicate better and playing like a champ with her big sis!

We are still taking 2 naps a day and is QUITE attached to her blankie and paci! She’s SUCH a little snuggle bug.

She doesn’t talk much, but is getting better at letting us know what she wants. She knows exactly where we keep the bananas and the milk and will go and grunt at me until I get her some :) She signs a few words and says the basics: Mama, Dada, Thank You, Cracker, Poppy/Papa, Dog, Uh-oh, and Go-Go-Go. She can point to her nose, belly & toes when asked.

Favorite activities: chasing her sister, reading books, playing outside

Favorite foods: graham crackers, black beans, milk, pasta, bananas

How to describe Zoey perfectly? Ornery. This girl is ALL personality. She knows she’s hilarious and is happy to show that off. I just adore her and her amazing little personality. I am loving getting to know her better each month and watching her turn into a little person.

I heart her. Big time.

They are really starting to play together. And fight. And love each other. And fight some more.

They play games. They make believe together. They chase and kiss and hug and tackle.

It’s so fun to watch them enjoy each other and start learning how to really share.
Share their time and love with Mommy & Daddy.

Everything I dreamed of when having sisters. I’m so thankful for them and how close they will be.

I cherish these tiny moments of joy, and know that in 30 seconds they will both be crying and upset about one of them making Elmo disappear off the phone and the other taking her sister’s stuffed animal.

Because in 12 years it will be fights about boys and sharing shoes.

I’m so thankful for Elmo and stuffed animals. Boys and shoes can wait.

I’m linking up!

We celebrated our sweet Zoey’s first birthday yesterday! I can’t believe we now have a 2 year old and a 1 year old! This first year flew by so fast with Zo. What a joy this girl is. She was the easiest baby! Always so happy and joyful. Although it took her 8 months to figure out how to sleep through the night, our sleepy days were easier because of that smile.

Oh, that smile!! I can’t get enough of it!

I cannot imagine our family without this precious blessing. She is an absolute blast! She has the sweetest and funniest personality. She’s always making us laugh, and loves making funny faces to get a laugh out of anyone around. We just know she’s going to be a really funny one! Excited to see her personality grow this year.

We love you, Zoey Brooklyn! Your name means life, and thats what you are. A joyful little thing, so full of life!

We celebrated Zoey’s first birthday this weekend! She turns one on September 2nd, but we were thrilled to have her grandma in from Alaska so we celebrated a week early. We were planning to have the party at a park, but there was a 60% chance of rain so we moved it to our house. She wasn’t that interested in the party, but we were still excited to celebrate our little sunshine! The party was very fitting of her happy, bright little personality!

Zoey was a little overwhelmed with the singing. Jessi was yelling, “Eat your cake Zo Zo!!!”

The look of complete awe when she got her favorite sippy cups :)

It’s her party…and she’ll cry if she wants to! Happy Birthday sweet girl!!!

While we were on vacation a couple weeks ago, Zoey took her first steps!
She’s loving walking, and thinks it’s just hilarious. What a funny girl!

Big sister is enjoying it too. “Walk to me baby stister!!”

We are all so proud of you big girl!!!!

Someone hold me. My baby turns ONE in 2.5 weeks and I have two toddlers.

Sweet little Zoey,

Wow, this month was a blast!!!!! You are like a whole new baby! Daddy went on a 3 week business trip, and literally the day he left – you started crawling. It took you a week or so to really figure it out, but before he came home you were crawling, pulling up and pushing yourself into a sitting position. Once you got mobile, you had FUN. It also got really frustrating for your sister, because you want to take all her toys! Time for a lesson in sharing!

You’re kinda known for your big open mouth smile. Quite excited about life :)

You’ve always been a mama’s girl, but are starting to get really excited when daddy is around. Your sis is going to have some competition in you! Now that summer is here, you are having a blast playing in the water. We can tell that you have no fear! You have a blast in the pool and love splashing around.

Favorite things: yogurt melts, your blanket, standing up, sweet potatoes, putting random stuff in your mouth and swimming.

We are so excited to watch you continue to learn and grow! You just love life and your joy is contagious!

I love you sweet girl,

Mama

***9 MONTH STATS***

Weight – 18lbs 12oz (45th percentile)
Height – 27 inches (30th percentile)

Completely perfect :)

Yeah, I’m a little behind. After hubby being gone this month and us being splattered all over the place, I kinda forgot about Zoey turning 8 months. This is a little behind (ahem, 3 weeks) and she’s actually changed A LOT this month! So, check back soon for the 9 month update :)

So here you have it. 8 months of bliss with Zoey!

My Sweet Zoey,

I said it once, and I’ll say it a million more times…you are the sweetest baby ever!
Your precious and perfect little personality are almost too much to handle!

You are really chunking up! You love to eat, and are doing so well at it. We’ve started you on some finger foods, and I’ve been really impressed with how well you do. Still no teeth! I’ve thought about 12 million times that you were teething, but still nothing has come through!

The best thing?? You’ve started sleeping through the night!!! Just for a week or so, but it’s been fabulous! I’m still adjusting to getting the extra sleep, but so thankful. I’m really hoping it sticks! We are all happier for it. I thought I was going to slowly start losing my mind :)

You still adore mama and always want to be close to me. You’ve started really struggling with seperation anxiety, and you’re having some trouble when you are at church or away from me at all. Hopefully that won’t last long!

Your contentment to just sit for hours is fading away. After 8 months of watching your sister run circles around you, you’ve decided you want to join her! You got a new walker, and you are all over the place in that thing. It only took you a few days to figure it out and now you can keep up with us all. You’re getting interested in crawling, so I know that will come very soon!

I love you precious girl! Watching you learn and grow is so much fun!

Love you to pieces,

Mama

Zoey is officially on the move. Using her little half crawl/half scoot she is managing to find her way to where she wants to go. She starts out big – up on her hands and kness and goes, then realizes she can do it much faster by army crawling. There’s some sort of awkward weird hop in the middle of all that moveable mess.

I really wish I could blame her big sister for all of this,
but she played a BIG ROLE in terrorizing my living room.

You know how my hubby is out of town for three weeks? She started crawling THE DAY HE LEFT. How’s that for irony, Alanis Morrisette?

I’m quickly finding the hardest thing about a moblie baby and a busy two year old is having a mobile baby and a busy two year old. THEY JUST DON’T WORK TOGETHER. Jessi leaves her toys around, gets mad when Zoey starts playing with them. Things go in the mouth that don’t belong in the mouth and the OH-MY-GOODNESS-SHE-GOT-MY-MONKEY-AND-I-WILL-FREAK-OUT-UNTIL-I-GET-HIM-BACK moments happen quite often.

So now I’m in a whole new world (magic carpet ride not included) with chasing a toddler and a baby. It’s interesting. Hurry home hubby.
