introducing summit church!

I’m so excited to tell you about Summit Church, a new church in Edmond, OK! When they emailed me to see if I would be interested in helping promote this new local church launch I was totally on board. Having been a part of a couple of smaller start up churches, and doing portable church twice…I’m very familiar with the routine! Even though this isn’t my church home, I’m all for supporting other ministries! The great thing about having a lot of local churches, means there is something for everyone!

Summit just launched a few months ago and meets in a elementary school in Edmond. The pastor, Allen attended a workshop about church plant and knew that’s what God was calling him to. God directed them to Edmond, and the rest is history! Their staff and people are so nice, and I was welcomed with open arms!

What stood out to me?

They preach grace. They show love.

That’s what church should be all about. Showing the love of Jesus. Their vision is to build a community that shares the love of Christ in big ways! They want to teach that church is not about a building but being the body of Christ.

Summit is very involved in the community. They do a tutoring program at the elementary school and a backpack program at a local school to send food home on the weekends for kids in need. The summer will be packed full of fun activities such as a Sports and Art Camp. Their goal is to be heavily involved in the community and that people can turn to them in times of need. Go check out their website for summer activities!!

I got to chat with the pastor’s wife a bit and hear her heart for the church and her family. As a mama to FOUR little ones, she is definitely busy! Her kiddos are Oliva (9), Sophi (6) and Gus & Xander (twins – 5 1/2). And you guys think I’M nuts! ;)   I asked her a couple of questions and here’s what she said:

Best advice for managing 4 small kids?
Relax. When you have that many kids that close together (I had 3 in 16 months), you can’t take anything too seriously.  I always have to remember to just enjoy and have fun.  AND, we have to leave extra early to be anywhere on time.

What are your favorite things to do with your kiddos and places to go in Edmond?
We love to go to the movies and every summer we go to the Harkins theater for the kids’ summer movies. Best deal in town. We love the zoo, Hafer Park, sports at the Y, and Bouncin’ Craze. We really love playing outside in the water hose, riding bikes, and sidewalk chalk.

A huge thank you to Allen & Erin Buck for welcoming me into your family and allowing me to help promote Summit Church! I’m so excited to see where God is leading them and the big ways He will use the church to reach the community!

If you are local and looking for a church, go visit Summit!

women of faith – coming to OKC!

I adore Women of Faith.

It was an honor when they approached me to help spread the word about the upcoming conference in OKC. If you are in OKC, I really encourage you to grab a girlfriend (or 12) and go! It will be an incredible experience for you. The lineup of speakers and performers is incredible! One of my favorite bloggers, Angie Smith will share her incredible story. Special appearances by Sheila Walsh, Ken Davis, Liz Curtis Higgs, Pat Smith, Christiane Caine, CeCe Winans and Selah. A live worship band and Ballet Magnificat will preform.

Women of Faith has been changing lives for 16 years. It’s the largest interdenominational live event for women in the world. They use grace, laughter and real stories to touch women’s hearts. Perfect for women of all ages! I was a young 20 year old working at women of faith and was just as impacted as 80 year old women who were attending! I love that!!

WOF was a big part of my life for several years. After doing an internship there while I was in college and continuing to work for them for several years after graduating, it really launched me into life. I loved my years on staff there, and I know you will love your weekend with teh WOF family.

We all experience good times and bad days, triumphs and tragedies. But no matter what life throws at you, this is what matters: God loves YOU. (Always has. Always will.) You’re invited to be part of a very special celebration. Compelling stories, Bible-based teaching, world-class music, unstoppable inspiration, and a few surprises combine for an experience like no other. God loves you! And that means there is always a reason to celebrate.

Our soul waits for the LORD; He is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted in His holy name. Psalm 33:20-21 NKJV

Veggie Tales: Robin Good and His Not-So-Merry Men {a giveaway!}

This giveaway is now closed!!

Congrats to Hannah @ Happy Days Blog for winning!!!
I hope you love it as much as we did!!

————————

It’s officially out! The newest Veggie Tales movie!! We always go a teeny bit crazy around here when Veggie Tales releases a new show, and Jessi Girl is over the top obsessed with her “Beggie Tales”.

If you are a fan of Robin Hood, you will really love this one! We learn about how there is no hurt too big for God. It’s hard to teach our children about how to handle being hurt, and this teaches them in a fun way! When Robin’s friends desert him, can he overcome his hurt to help show his friends what is right and help the townspeople when they are in danger? You’ll just have to watch to find out!

The DVD has some great special features to teach your kids about Leap Year! Lenny and the Lost Birthday & Larry’s Leapin’ Leap Year are so cute and your kids will love learning about leap year this way.

Oh, and don’t even get me started on Silly Songs with Larry. Let’s just say it involves Bubble Wrap….or should I say Rap!

I know you will love this show (and so will your kiddos!).

peter rabbit oragnics {a review}

When Jessi Girl was just wee thing, I discovered these yummy food pouches and they made my life SO much easier. I would stock up on them at the store and always have one on hand when out and about.

I was thrilled when Peter Rabbit Organics contacted me to try out their newest yummy pouches. Um, YES PLEASE! They are 100% organic, containing NO sugar (woo!). They come with a lid (so it can be resealed) and the lid isn’t a choking hazard like some I’ve seen.

I knew she would love the fruit blends, because duh. So, the veggies were the real tester. She devoured it as if she hadn’t had a meal in days. We tried the Pea, Spinach and Apple blend and she loved it. Getting veggies in my girl is exciting for me! She usually takes a couple bites and pushes them around her plate. Tricked you little girl!!!

These are the perfect snack on the go. Jessi always gets cranky when she gets hungry and these are like an instant happiness for her (and for mama!!). We tested them out all over for you, so you can see the best places to take your Peter Rabbit pouches!

At the park:

Cruising:

And most importantly…Target:

There is a very important side affect you should be aware of.
They cause extreme amounts of cuteness and good behavior:

Peter Rabbit Organic pouches can be purchased at stores such as Whole Foods, REI, Albertsons, Amazon.com…and STARBUCKS! Ding, ding, ding!!! They know how to reach the mamas! I take my girls for a Starbucks date and that’s always what Jessi picks as her treat!

Pick up your Peter Rabbit pouches when you are out with your kiddos! I promise they will thank you, and I’m convinced there is good behavior buried deep in the yumminess of healthy fruits and veggies ;)

———————————-

I was sent complimentary pouches from Peter Rabbit Organics for this review, but was not compensated for a positive review. This review is real and I really am as obsessed with these pouches as I seem to be.
(Thanks guys!!)

jaxon jill designs {a giveaway!}

************THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED************

So, let’s be honest. I’m not fashionable. I live in sweat pants and my hubby’s tshirts. I wear things that I know I shouldn’t. And due to my lack of fashion sense, I have to count on my super fashionable friends to tell me how to dress.

Kristina from Jaxon Jill Designs is one of those people. She’s aaaaaadorable (like in an annoyingly beautiful kind of way that you want to punch her in the face for being so adorable). She is super sweet and an amazingly genuine woman. She makes really incredibly beautiful babies. AND she makes some stinking cute things! Basically the perfect woman!

Remember that shirt you see on Jessi ALL THE TIME because it’s my favorite and one of the only shirts that fits her right now? Yeah, Kristina made that. Oh, and the bow too of course.

And these infinity scarves I am obsessed with? They are new in her shop! I wear these alllll the time (probably committing another fashion no, no?). Playdate scarf? OK! Girls night out scarf? Yes, please!  They are super soft, and also warm! Zoey is convinced I wear them so she can snuggle them. That darn cute little snuggle bug.

GUESS WHAT?!?!?! To celebrate the launch of the Spring Line, Jaxon Jill Designs is giving away a $40 Gift Certificate to one lucky reader!!!

Check out some of the lovelies from her new line!

schardein & co salon {a giveaway!}

****THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED****

A day at the salon is one of my favorite things. It’s so relaxing to get out of the house and sit for a few hours. Love it! I’m thrilled to share my salon with you. I’m obsessed. Schardein & Co Salon is seriously one of the coolest salons I’ve ever set foot in. I love the set up of the place. Each stylist isn’t stationed at a specific place, and they move around all over. There is just a big group of chairs, and it creates such a fun atmosphere. I’ve gotten to chat with so many of their stylists and customers because of this unique set up.

Not to mention the fact that they are a top 200 salon. The stylists do continuing education all the time, so they are up to date on all the latest stuff. No mullets going on there! Unless I missed something and they are back? Let’s hope not.

My stylist? She’s awesome. She knows her stuff. She sits and talks things over with you before you start. I completely trust her, I mean come on…I let her dye my hair brown! That’s not something I do without a crazy insane amount of trust.

After having Zoey, I hadn’t been to get my hair done in 4 months. Can you say YUCK??

Holly took me from nasty to FABULOUS!!!!

GIVEAWAY TIIIIIIIIME!

Because I love my salon so much, I’m thrilled to team up with them and offer you something!! One lucky reader will win a free styling session with my stylist Holly. Maybe you’re looking for a new salon? This is a great way to check it out!

CONGRATS TO NIKKI SCHUMAKER!
I hope you love your experience with Schardein (I know you will!)

cinnamon roll oatmeal

Who doesn’t love cinnamon rolls? I know I do. But I don’t love the calories, so here’s a healthier way to get that amazing cinnamon roll taste! This is quick and easy and my toddler devours it for breakfast!

Cinnamon Roll Oatmeal
Makes 1 serving (feeds mama and a toddler perfectly!)

What you need:
1/2 cup Old Fashioned Oats
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1 Tbsp light-brown sugar
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp molasses
Pinch of salt

Icing:
1 Tbsp Cream Cheese or Neufchatel Cheese, softened
1 Tbsp powdered sugar
1 tsp milk

How to do it:
In a large microwave safe bowl, combine all the oatmeal ingredients. Cook oatmeal mixture in the microwave for about 3 1/2 minutes.  Remove from microwave, stir in a little butter if desired and allow to cool several minutes.
In a small bowl, using a fork, whisk together softened cream cheese, powdered sugar and milk until well blended. Drizzle icing over oatmeal. Sprinkle lightly with cinnamon.

DELICIOUS!!!!!

peanut butter banana smoothie

I mentioned this smoothie the other day and a ton of you asked for the recipe so I wanted to share it! It’s one of our favs! I love making this smoothie after Jessi wakes from her nap, especially on a picky eater type of day. I know she will at least get something in her.

What you need:
1/4 cup oats
1/4 cup peanut butter
1 cup milk
2 frozen bananas

Blend the oats first. The key is to turn them into powder. Once they are a fine powder, add all the ingredients and blend until desired consistency.

Here’s the trick: once you give it to your kids, sneak some chocolate syrup into yours. Makes it delish!

Jessi Girl doesn’t stop to take a breath when I give her this smoothie, she loves it!

Thumbs up for the PB Banana Smoothie!

the best hot chocolate to ever hit your lips

I made this hot chocolate for a Christmas Party we had recently and I seriously wanted to jump in the crock pot and bathe in it. It was TO. DIE. FOR. There’s most likely about 12 bazillion calories per glass, but it’s more than worth it. You’ll go back for another glass for sure.

CROCK POT HOT CHOCOLATE FROM HEAVEN

1 1/2 Cups Heavy Cream
1 can of sweetened condensed milk (14oz)
2 cups of chocolate chips (I use dark chocolate…yum)
6 cups of milk
1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Cook on low for 2 hours, stirring often.

This makes about 6-8 cups (depending on serving sizes), I will likely double the recipe for the big group we’ll have Christmas day.

You can create a fun Hot Chocolate Bar to go with it too! I did things like candy canes, peppermints, toffee bits, cinnamon, sprinkles, yummy candies and of course whipped topping!

We are going to enjoy this on Christmas day, and I hope you do too!! Enjoy!
