a week {in iPhone pics}

Welcome to my week in iPhone pictures!!
Want your pics to look awesome like mine?? Download instagram & diptic. Two of my favorite apps!
Except, you can’t have my kid…and that’s what really makes my pictures so great.

SUNDAY
Having fun with daddy at church! The dog had a little much fun, and this picture doesn’t do his grossness justice.

MONDAY
Such a fun day! A trip to walmart, a post nap trip to visit the ducks and swing. Then playing on the back porch and realizing if we shake our cup hard enough, water pours out.

TUESDAY
Wearing Daddy’s hat. Um, cute! Visitng the ducks, Jack in the box fun and trying to eat the mayo. You know…a normal day.

WEDNESDAY
What a busy day!! We got her some fun outdoor toys (thanks Craiglist!!) because all she wants to do is play outside. However, she gets scared when she hears the train (that is several miles away) go by and wants to go inside. Oh, and the neighbors have baby chickens!

THURSDAY
A trip to the doctor to check up on baby sister, so she rocked the big sis shirt for the first time. So stinking cute! A fun day shopping and playing at the park with Mimi. The a car nap & dinner giggles. Perfection.

FRIDAY
Munchkin had a fun day with her friends! Played at Unpluggits with her buddy Braden, then we dropped her at Mia’s house to play while Mommy & Daddy went on a date. Aren’t her and Mia just darling?? Love them together.

SATURDAY
Celebrating Lila’s 1st Birthday…bikini style. Oh man, it was epic. More pics to come. Then a quick trip to Stillwater (where we went to college and met! yay!) so daddy could lead worship and then family date night. I love looking in the backseat and seeing that little face.

Want to join the fun??

homemade finger paint fun

After posting pictures yesterday of Munchkin doing her first finger painting, I got a lot of questions on how we did the paint. Since everything still goes in the mouth, and the paint was something new and different – I really didn’t want her eating paint. I found a way to make it that was completely safe and still fun! So, here’s the recipe I used!!

Homemade Finger Paint

- 1 cup flour-
- 2 Tablespoons salt-
-1 1/2 cups cold water-
-1 1/4 cup hot water-
-Food Coloring-

Mix flour & salt in saucepan.
Add cold water and beat with wire whisk until smooth.
Add hot water and boil until it gets thick.
Beat again until smooth.
Add food coloring to desired color.

This mixture comes out pretty thick & sticky. You can add a little more water if you want it thinner. It is basically like a puff paint, and takes a while to dry but turns out fantastic.

I put down a large piece of cardboard in our garage and put the paint & canvases on it. Along with a cute baby of course! We painted on canvases I got at Hobby Lobby, and they looked really good once they were done!!

Plus, it comes off skin REALLY easily. I just rinsed her off, and didn’t even need soap or to scrub hard to get it off, even after it dried a little.

This was a perfect project for my tiny toddler, and I know we will do this many times!! Enjoy & have fun painting with your little one!

Orphan Sunday {& giveaway winner!!}

This upcoming Sunday, November 7th is Orphan Sunday. This is  a day set aside to remind the American church about the orphan crisis we face.  Now, before some of you turn away, Orphan Sunday isn’t just for folks who are actually adopting.  There are literally hundreds of ways to help orphans.

I encourage you to take a moment and just make yourself aware. Take a minute to watch this video. Go to this web site to learn more about Orphan Sunday and events happening in your area. Pray about how you can help a family who is adopting. Pray about saying yes to the decision of becoming an adoptive parent.

i'm giving in

I married my hubby about 2 1/2 years ago. When we got married we got TONS of gifts, as is the great custom to buy presents for the bride & groom.  One gift we got was a coffee maker. Poor little coffee maker.

Today is the first time I am using it. It has been used by family and friends, but this morning I gave in.  I brewed myself a cup o’ joe.

I’m a complete coffee snob. I love Starbucks, and rarely branch out to other coffee establishments because I never like their fancy lattes like my ‘bucks can make it. Usually, I just drink Chai because it became my addiction when I gave up Diet Coke almost 4 years ago {wow…I can’t believe it’s been that long}. But sometimes, I just need a little more.  Now that I’m chasing around a baby that thinks she’s a toddler, I need the extra boost.

So here I sit this morning, with my first cup of homemade coffee in hand. Because I can’t afford to go to the ‘bucks everyday like I wish I could. It’s a compromise I make so my child can eat. Yup, I’m such a good mom.

i didn't ask for twater.

After yesterday’s super deep post, I needed to lighten it up a bit.  I’m a big fan of the twitter. I’ve met some pretty studly friends that way, and frankly I love to tell the world what I’m doing every second of the day. And since my 5 month old daughter joined twitter this week, I thought I’d share this hilarious video. {yes, my daughter is on twitter}

Thank you twitter for making my already insanely crazy days a little busier because you distract me.

Are you on twitter? Follow me @momdiggity!

i'm shredded

On Friday I completed one of the more difficult things I’ve ever done.  And I thought pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding were rough….Jillian Michaels made that all seem like a cake walk.

I’m officially SHREDDED.

A lot of people have been asking my opinion on the 30 Day Shred, so here you have it!

PROS:
-It’s a super short, super intense workout.  If you don’t want to spend 2 hours at the gym, this pretty much packs it in for you.
-Results.  It actually works!!
-You can do it in your underwear. (Ok, I never did, but I guess you could if you wanted?)
-It works out pretty much every single muscle in your body at once.
-There are different levels, and modified versions if you aren’t as awesome as Jillian.
CONS:
-I was a little dissapointed that I didn’t lose more weight.  I still have 10lbs of lingering baby weight and was hoping this would help a ton, but I gained so much muscle it pretty much all evened out.
-It’s pretty tough on the knees. Be sure and really stretch before you workout.
-You sweat a LOT.
-Your 4 month old baby laughs at you. Sometimes that just hurts my feelings.
-It’s an everyday thing, so it’s sometimes tough to squeeze a workout in if you’re super busy.
-For 20 minutes, you actually feel like you might die.

Before the 30 Day Shred, I could not do a push up, a sit up and could barely lift my baby.  Now I’m proud to say I can do push ups, sit ups and I don’t feel like I’m going to pass out just walking up stairs! I still have a long way to go to get back to my pre-baby body, but this has really helped me get so much closer.  At 4 months post partum, I’m well on my way!

I highly recommend this workout! But if you start it, keep it up & don’t quit!! Good luck!!

birthday recap & thank yous!

I got spoiled for my birthday! I wanted to share some of the awesomeness I received! My parents came out from Oklahoma to visit and Brook had a few days off work so we had a great time celebrating.  The munchkin decided it was time to start teething so she gave me the gift of spending a LOT more time with her…in the middle of the night.  Poor kid.

But I also got some stinkin’ amazing gifts from my outstanding family. From hubby…iPhone 4. Rock on. Love it so much! From the kid (and hubby and pup)…a super cute strap for my camera. It still hasn’t arrived yet but I can’t wait to get this on my camera! From the parentals…a blender. Because afterall I’m old and like to blend. From the in-laws…the Vintage Pearl necklace I’ve been wanting with the kid’s name on it.  Looking forward to adding more charms to this as we add on to our family!

Thanks for making it special! Birthday’s are awesome!

not about my birthday

It’s amazing how when you have a child, it’s just really not about you anymore.  I love birthdays and have always been really excited about my birthday…but this year is just a little different.  All I care about is her and what is best for her.  I wish it was her birthday so we could celebrate her instead of me! (Ok, I really don’t wish it was because that would mean she was growing up and I’d like her to stop for a few minutes!!)

My First Birthday – July 8, 198(cough)

I’ll try to have fun and celebrate my birthday…but I can’t help but be thankful of the little blessing I have and that I get to enjoy her today! Best gift ever!
