why we're doing it

Yes, we are packing up and moving from gorgeous Huntington Beach, CA to Edmond, OK. Seems like a really stupid odd trade doesn’t it?

It’s called sacrifice.
Giving up something you love for something you love more.

We love the beach and Orange County. We love our family more. Simple really.

we are…

um hello, baby on board!

Yesterday I had my first major “mom scare”, and my first freak out. I went to the Women of Faith conference for the afternoon to hang with some old friends I used to work with. As I was leaving, a lady plowed into the side of my car.  Terrifying me…and terrifying my poor 5 month old daughter in the backseat. Holy. Moly. I could have won an award for how quickly I jumped out of my car and jumped in the backseat to check on her. Wow, she was scared.

As I was trying to console my poor girl who had experienced her first trauma (wait…the moment you are born is the most stressful of your entire life, but I doubt she still remembers that?), the lady proceeded to say to me “honey, were we going a little fast?” Ummm…lady, you just opened a can of worms. So I proceeded to scream at her tell her what I thought, and I’m sure I did not make a good first impression.  She got a piece of my mind as my momma claws came out and dug into her.  (Disclaimer, I was going the speed limit, in my own lane when she decided to join me in my lane. I’m not at fault. Just needed to get that out)

Don’t you mess with me and my baby.

my man

My husband and the amazing father of my baby girl.  Today he turns the big 3-0! I love him so much and my life is absolutely perfect with him.

He’s the man of my dreams and the greatest blessing I could have ever imagined! Even though he’s turning 30 today, and is technically “old” he’s still a kid inside and a blast to be with.  Life is never dull in our house!

Happy Birthday baby, I love you!!

home sweet home

Yesterday we brought our sweet Jessi Girl home!!! After 4 days in the hospital, I was very ready to be home and begin life with our precious little one.  I am doing well and on the road to recovery. After the first day, I thought man this c-section stuff is a breeze! Oh…then it got harder. Maybe next time I will hold my tongue.

We are having a blast learning to be parents, and getting to know Jessika. She is absolutely beautiful.  I seriously feel sorry for all you parents out there, because our girl takes the cake.  Her daddy is in for some trouble, because the boys are going to be knocking down our door!

Here are a few of my favorite pictures and an amazing video that Brook was able to catch of her. (Watch the video and then pause it at 44 seconds.  This is why I’m in love and why Brook is in big trouble)

Mommy & Baby meet for the first time

Thank you so much for all your prayers. We are doing great, and would really appreciate the continued prayers as I heal and recover.

happy anniversary!

We were married on February 29, 2008.  Leap Day.  So we “technically” only have an anniversary every 4 years. Even though Feb. 29th is missing from our calendars this year, a celebration of our marriage is not missing!!

Happy Anniversary to the love of my life!!

caring for my patient…

Yesterday the hubby had his wisdom cut out of his mouth.  With the hubby on pain meds, we thought it was best that he didn’t blog so he asked me to guest blog over at brookjames.com!

To my Valentine…

To my Valentine…

You are my best friend. The love of my life.  I love you for a million reasons, but here are just a few.

There is no one else in the world I can be completely vulnerable with, but still completely comfortable with. I can laugh, cry, wear no make up, be afraid, be confident….be the REAL me.  You know the real me, and you love every bit of me.  That is something I will never understand, but will be happy to continue to try to understand for the rest of my life.

You have been there for me for the past 9 months through the ups and the downs. Thank you for taking me to Babies R Us just to play on the days that I thought I couldn’t take it anymore.  Thank you for constantly telling me I’m going to be a great mother when I doubted myself.  Thank you for taking care of me. It hasn’t been an easy ride, but you’ve been there every step of the way to help make me as comfortable as possible and be my constant encouragement. Only 26 days until we meet our daughter!

In 5 years. In 20 years. In 50 years. YOU are the one I want by my side. You are the one that makes me laugh. You are the one that holds my hand through the hard times, and rejoices with me through the good times.  You are the father of my children.  You bring more joy to me than I could have ever known. You are the one I want by my side until our time here is done.

You’re sexy. And we’ll leave it at that, because after all our parents are probably going to read this ;)

You will always be my #2 love. You encourage me to walk daily with our Savior, and you help me understand how much God loves me through the love you show me.  I never knew a love so deep until I knew you, and could even get a glimpse at how much our Father loves us.  You are the leader of our relationship, and I know you will be an incredible leader for our children. What an amazing earthly daddy our baby girl has.

I love you baby, more than I can ever tell you. Thank you for being the love of my life, and teaching me how to love.  The past two years being married to you have been more than I could have ever hoped for.  Happy Valentines Day!

babymoon!

The hubs and I got away this weekend to enjoy a little time together before the baby comes.  It was a brilliant idea, and we had a great time shutting off from the world and just enjoying one another. Since our 2 year anniversary will be when I’m about 38 weeks/miserably uncomfortable/ready to pop this was also to celebrate our anniversary.

Friday I took off from work a little early and we headed south down the coast.  We stayed in place right outside of Carlsbad, CA. We spend the evening roaming around, had dinner at a really cool little pizza place and just enjoyed some time together. Saturday we hit the outlet malls…which of course was my choice :)

Saturday evening we headed home to stay the night so we could get up super early and do the church thing on Sunday. Right after church we headed to the desert.  We stayed in a really great resort in Indian Wells, CA (Palm Springs/Palm Desert area).  The drive through the desert was gorgeous and there are tons of resorts in the area so it’s super nice.  We checked in and took advantage of the pool.  They had a slide so Brook fought off the kids so he could play. Shocking huh? ;)

Pizza in bed, 2 hours of Jack Bauer, homemade cookies, and a very relaxing evening in! What a wonderful weekend we had. I’m so thankful for the time that we had to spend together and enjoy the little bit of time we have as just the two of us!!

Brook James…I love you more than you know baby!

a year in review – 2009

What an amazing year we had!!

Here are a few highlights:
*Started a new job at House of Blues in Anaheim
*Brook went on staff at Kingsfield
*Celebrated our 1 year anniversary…a trip we’ll never forget
*Started training to run a half marathon
*Lost 15 pounds
*Held my niece & loved on her. What a sweet girl!
*Took an amazing trip to Israel
*Stopped training for marathon…because…
*WE’RE PREGNANT!!!
*Threw up for 6 months straight. Best 6 months of my life.
*Found out we’re having a GIRL!
*My life began to drastically change as it centered around growing & preparing for this child! Can’t wait to see her face in 2010!!

It’s interesting to look back at what I had hoped to do in 2009. A lot of what I wanted to do couldn’t be done because we got pregnant, but I would trade it for the world!! I did lose 15 pounds before I got pregnant, but didn’t run the half marathon, learn to snowboard or get a tan.  I guess there’s always next year!

A few things I’m looking forward to this year:
*Getting this baby out of me!!!!!!
*Seeing my baby girl’s face for the first time
*Learning how to be the best mom I can be
*Losing weight!!!!!!
*Our first trip to Alaska for family vacation
*Growing closer to my husband through the birth of our first child
*Morning sickness to be GONE!

Here’s to an amazing year that will be life changing!!!
