how annie & isabel made my day

It was a joy to wear my Annie & Isabel gown for the birth of my second daughter. I felt beautiful, and that’s saying a lot for a mama giving birth! Everyone who came to my room loved my gown and I got so many comments and compliments from the nursing staff on how functional and stylish it was. And they were right!

I loved that I could still get up and walk around and be completely covered. The gown was thick enough to be comfortable in, and with the ribbon ties and snaps in the back I could be covered to get up and around. It was also easy for frequent feedings, and perfect for the nurses to do everything they needed to do.

I think next time, I’ll get a different gown for every day I’m in the hospital! I now tell all moms that they shouldn’t even think about going to the hospital without their Annie & Isabel gown!

A huge thank you to the amazing ladies behind Annie & Isabel who made my day extra special!

Annie & IsabelThe stylish alternative to a hospital gown

I’m thrilled and honored to be wearing an Annie & Isabel gown for the birth of my baby. Because, let’s be honest…hospital gowns are just gross. No one feels pretty in those and when there are a bazillion pictures being taken of you – mama deserves to feel pretty!! No woman should go to the hospital without their Annie & Isabel gown!! And this company? Some of the BEST customer service I have ever experienced. The owners Anna & Selena have emailed me to just check in and let me know they are thinking of me. They are precious women, nurses & moms who really care.  That means the world to me. They are just downright incredible.

unexpected costs of pregnancy

You know those books you can buy about pregnancy? The “what to expect when you’re expecting” junk? Well, those books never go into the good details. They don’t tell you what to REALLY expect. For example, there are costs of pregnancy they don’t tell you about.

That’s why I’m here. To give you the Top 10 Unexpected Costs of Pregnancy. Buckle your seat belts kids, these are good.

10. Ice Cream – Really? Does this one need an explanation?

9. Toothpaste – Most normal women throw up a lot. You will at least have clean teeth, because after all that puking, you brush about 70 times a day.

8. Tums – Oh, the tums. I bought the massive box of like 600 and it’s lasted about a month. Between heartburn and stomach aches, those things are lifesavers.

7. Water Bill – Long showers are one of the only things that relax and calm my body. I could stand there for hours (if hubby would let me). Oh, and don’t get me started on how often you have to flush the toilet!

6. Oreos – In one sitting I can eat almost an entire package. And they really do make you feel better.

5. Fast food  – Seriously? The cravings. You will make dinner, and plan to eat healthy and it just look nasty. Off to Taco Bell is it for the biggest, most disgusting fake meat burrito of all time.

4. Sunglasses – Along with your mind…you lose everything. You misplace everything. You forget where everything is. And, then you sit on them because you can’t see down “there”.

3. Fans – I have 3 on me at night. THREE. And I still sweat every night.

2. Fingernail Clippers – Prenatal vitamins make your hair and nails crazy strong. I am proud to say I actually snapped a pair of fingernail clippers in half because my nails are so stinking strong. Impressive, eh?

1. Toilet Paper – You pee A LOT. A whole, whole lot. In the last trimester, I find myself changing to a new role every few days. That’s just a stupid amount of toilet paper.

Good luck & have fun! Growing a baby is the BEST!

What were some unexpected costs for you?

WE ARE HAVING A BABY THIS WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m a teeeeeeeeeeeny bit excited. It’s going to be pretty incredible. I’m basically annoyed with being pregnant, and if this baby drops anymore…she’s going to just fall right out.

The second half of this pregnancy has been much better than when I was pregnant with big sister. The first half, WAY worse. I do not enjoy being pregnant, but it hasn’t been completely unbearable. We have talked about this being the last of our own (we are adopting), but as I near the end of this it makes me a little sad that I might not have the joy of growing another life. I am so blessed to be able to carry children, no matter how difficult it may be. I count those blessings every day when I look at my {really large} pregnant belly and into the eyes of my gorgeous little girl. So no decisions being made just yet :)

Enjoy my last belly pic….at least for a REALLY long time! Because in 5 short days, this baby is going to be in my arms!

big sister gifts for the big day!

Hey! Surprise! We’re having a baby next week! Oh right, that’s all I talk about these days.

I wanted to get Jessi Girl a special “big sister” gift, but since she’s only 17 months and clueless as to what is actually happening…I decided to go a different route. I had an idea to do a daily gift for her when she comes to the hospital to visit. Now it is special for her, and she has something to entertain her while she’s visiting! Win, win!

I put together these little goodie bags for each day. I hope she loves them, and enjoys playing. I know little sister will be exciting to her, but I’m sure after about 10 minutes and realizing she can’t drag her around like she does her baby dolls…she’ll be bored and need something to do.

Since we are having a c-section, we are planning for three full days in the hospital so I made 3 bags for each day she’ll come visit us. Check them out!

- Day One Bag -
Big Sister Book
Bouncy ball {that lights up!}
Bubbles to take home & enjoy
Awesome “On the Go Art Case” from aPearantly Sew!!!

- Day Two Bag -
Piggy Bank Toy
Fun Bouncy Ball
“You Are My Sunshine” book

- Day Three Bag -
Little People SUV (with a baby in back!!)
Play-Doh
“Guess How Much I Love You” book

Can’t wait to spoil Big Sis a little bit too, while Little Sis is getting so much attention!!

What did you do for your older siblings when having a new baby?

the sunday bump

Can you believe we are this close? Because I can’t. 12 days until we meet our sweet little girl.

This baby has majorly dropped and WHOA it’s uncomfortable! I’m thrilled to be delivering her early. This is weird, but I actually carried Jessi 22 days longer than I will little sister. Yes, so I’m quite happy to not have to do that again.

I still have quite a bit to do before the baby, so my to do list will keep me busy over the next week and 6 days. Lots of tiny clothes to wash, bags to pack, things to prepare. It’s gonna fly by and before I know it they will be cutting me open and yanking a darling little person out of me.

Happy Full Term!

can i get that to go?

Well, two weeks from today is the big day. The exciting birth of my second child, and also my dreaded c-section.

{{Just to clarify for you c-section haters – vbac isnt an option for me for several reasons and I’m proud to deliver my baby in the best and healthiest option for us. Glad we had this little chat.  Moving on…}}

I just really hate having surgery, and not being able to get around easily. Having a baby is great and all, but the whole getting it out of your body process just really stinks.

And ummmm, how about you stay in the hospital for 4 days? No thanks!! Can we do like a drive thru delivery service and I’ll be home and in my bed by lunchtime??

I’m nervous about a few things with the birth of this baby. Two kids under the age of 2. Breastfeeding. And the recovery of the c-section. I just remember the pain from last time and how it took a while to get back in the swing of things, but I had a really hard time recovering. I really want it to be smoother this time. It was only 17 months ago, so you’d think it would be a little more fresh on my mind…but somehow I’ve forgotten a lot of it.

Any advice from c-section mamas? Recovery tricks I should try out?

2 Weeks, 5 Days remaining. Did you hear me??? That’s 19 days!!!!!!!!

We spent a wonderful week on the lake this week with family & friends. Such a great time for mama to “rest”. I would have rested if I could have slept. This stage of pregnancy is so tough and uncomfortable!

Wednesday, 2.0 decided to drop and I started having contractions. I had contractions pretty early with Jessi Girl too, but she didn’t drop until much later. So, basically I’m really loving being pregnant and super comfortable. Right? Right.
